HOW MUCH IS THE CLASS?

Sunstate Motorcycle Training class is $250.

WILL I GET MY MOTORCYCLE LICENSE BY TAKING THE CLASS?

If you successfully complete the class, the DMV will have your results. Go to the nearest DMV and let them know you completed the class to get your endorsement on your driver’s license.

WHAT DO I HAVE TO WEAR/BRING?

Sunstate Motorcycle Training will provide you with the training bikes (2021 Benelli TNT135s & BMW 300s). For experienced riders without your endorsement, we highly recommend that you do not ride your bike to the training due-to not having your Endorsement/license "We've got your back."

Helmet

You must wear a helmet for this training. It is strongly encouraged to have your own DOT compliant helmet (DOT sticker must be visible). We highly recommend you bring your own helmet for safety precautions due to Covid-19, if you do not have a helmet, loaners are available. You are required to bring a helmet sock or beanie when using loaner helmets (we do have helmet sock for $4).

We also have SHARK helmets to purchase, please visit our helmet shop.

Gloves

We highly recommend you bring your own full fingered gloves for safety precautions due to Covid-19 (NO fingerless or gloves with holes). If you do not have gloves, don’t worry we’ve got some loaners.

Long Pants You need to wear full length pants made of sturdy material and free of holes.  No exposed skin is allowed. Spandex, Lycra, yoga, sweat and any other pants made of lightweight stretchy material is not accepted.

Over the ankle footwear Sturdy over the ankle footwear is required. Boots with low heels, ankle support and rubber soles are recommended. Cowboy boots are generally not a great riding boot because the soles do not offer adequate grip on the ground.

Eye Protection Safety glasses or face shields on your helmet are preferred eye protection. Prescription glasses and regular sunglasses are permitted for the course but are not legal eye protection out on the road.

Long Sleeve Shirt All riders must have long sleeve attire that covers the wrist. Jackets are not required for the course.

Rain Gear We will ride in the rain if the weather is not severe. It is Florida and the chance of rain is highly likely, so you are encouraged to bring rain gear if you like.

We understand that due to the weather here in Florida some of you do not have long pants, over the ankle footwear, and long sleeve shirts. Please ladies and gentlemen you must be wearing these items to ride on the motorcycles for safety reason. Responsible riders wear their gear on every ride.

You will need to complete an eCourse (online session) for a successful completion of the course.  It is suggested to have it completed prior to riding in the range exercises but if it's not completed you can still ride. eCourse must be completed within 30 days of training. It will take you at least 5 hours to complete. We highly recommend doing it as soon as possible.

CAN I USE MY OWN MOTORCYCLE?

No. We provide the training motorcycles.

HOW LONG IS THE CLASS?

It is approximately 15 hours total. About 10 hours are on-bike practice and 5 hours of eCourse at your own pace on-line class. You can expect to ride between 24 and 30 miles during the class.

We have many classes available during the week and weekend to meet your schedule. There are typically morning and afternoon classes. Classes are two days consisting of both riding and classroom activities. Private classes can be arranged as well.

No. You must first attend all classroom and riding sessions and successfully complete a written test and skill test to pass. We will do our best to help you develop your skills but not all students are successful.

WHAT IF I DON'T PASS?

It's not the end of the world. Sometimes you just need a little more practice. Your Instructor(s) can help you make the decision to return for more practice. Sometimes student(s) just need more time to increase their skill level by repeating a portion of the class. In other cases, people decide that riding is not for them. Either way you will have gained the knowledge of what it takes to become a motorcyclist.

WHAT IF I PASS AND I STILL WANT MORE PRACTICE?

Opportunities for Additional Practice are available in the near future.
